Great collection of Stockholm 1956

During the Olympic games in Melbourne 1956 Stockholm was appointed to arrange the equestrian games. Due to a long journey to Australia it was decided to hold the equestrian games in Europe in stead to give the participants and horses better possibilities to perform. Stockholm was awarded due to the facilities and the experience from the 1912 Olympic games. It was a true great choice from the organizing committee “down under” and Stockholm gave some great games. They also issued some memorabilia designed just for the equestrian games and the 1956 Stockholm participation medal is a true gem for many collectors.

The auctions at Tradera last weeks did not include any participation medal but a great variety of badges and service medals. Images are from Tradera and you will find links to the auctions below.

It was a true great spread of the badges and prices went high for many of them. Of course, some with provenance were well sought from mainly Swedish collectors.
