Bukowskis is offering rare Chamonix medal

Many have seen that Bukowskis is offering a rare Chamonix participation medal with a strong provenance. It is Nils ”Molle” Molander (1889-1974), collection. Then by inheritance. Molander was one of the first two famous Swedish ice hockey players (forward) and played club hockey in Germany already from 1912 to 1928 for Berliner SC (German champions 10 times during those years). In 1920 and 1924 he participated in the Swedish national team during the Olympics. In total, Nils Molander played 23 games in the Swedish national team and scored 24 goals. He became the first in Swedish ice hockey to receive Stora Grabbar’s märke (today Stora Grabbar’s och Tjejer’s märke) consequently with number 1. In 2012 he was inducted into the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame as number 21.

Molander also competed in cross-country skating and represented Denmark in 1914 at the European Skating Championships in Berlin at 500 meters.

They are also auctioning his Participation badge at the same time.

Bukowskis price is quite modest at USD3,500 for the medal and USD2,000 for the badge. On our notes we average USD11,200 for the medal and USD5,250 for the badge. The average is for the 5 latest sales we have monitored. Add the known provenance, the original case and the quality and you will probably have a fair and modest valuation at USD15,000 and USD8,000. At the time of writing this post they both seems to be perfect for collectors of Olympic memorabilia.

Good luck with your biddings!
